Myles Garrett suggests Dolphins knew what Browns would do defensively

All-Pro pass-rusher Myles Garrett may have taken a shot at the Cleveland Browns coaching staff ahead of the weekend.

Per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Garrett explained on Friday that he and his teammates felt as if Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel knew exactly how to overpower Cleveland's defense in last Sunday's 39-17 blowout that left the Browns at 3-6 on the campaign.

"It wasn’t like a first 15, it was like a first 60," Garrett said of McDaniel's scripting of offensive plays. "The way they attacked us was very detailed in what they were trying to do. They had us out of position a lot of the time. It seemed like when we tried to switch things up, they were a step ahead."

Garrett added McDaniel and his staff "knew what adjustments we were going to make" during the Week 10 encounter.

Carter Owen of the Dolphins website pointed out that Miami torched Cleveland for a season-high 195 rushing yards last Sunday. Meanwhile, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa completed 25-of-32 pass attempts for 285 yards and three touchdowns.

"We were a second late because of all the movements and motions, all those things kept us on the back foot. That’s another credit to them and their coaches," Garrett continued.

The Browns have been without quarterback Deshaun Watson all season, but defensive coordinator Joe Woods has nevertheless received widespread criticism this fall from fans and local media members regarding the team's record.

"It’s part of the business," Woods recently said about people calling for his job, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "You can’t let it affect you. You can’t ride the emotional roller coaster. I know what type of business I’m in. It’s a fair business. We’re in the business of winning, and right now we’re not doing it, so that criticism is going to come. It’s deserved in some instances, and I promise you, I’m doing everything I can to get the thing turned around. But we have to execute and we have to play better on game day."

Woods and company will look to right the ship when the Browns face the 6-3 Buffalo Bills in Detroit this Sunday assuming a paralyzing snowstorm doesn't keep the Bills stranded in western New York through the weekend.
