A lot of questions swirled about the future of Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett.
Garrett requested a trade at the beginning of February, although the Browns insisted they would keep him in town.
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry made their thoughts clear of any Garrett trade during the NFL combine.
Then, Browns owner Jimmy Haslem denied a meeting with Garrett at the beginning of March.
Nonetheless, Garrett and the Browns agreed to a historic deal on Sunday. The new contract gave Garrett a four-year extension worth $40 million a year with $123.5 million in guaranteed money, which makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
It's a monster deal for Garrett, who now sticks around in Cleveland with a large payday.
After the news came through, Garrett's agent, Nicole Lynn, took to X with a perfect reaction.
"I had a very uneventful weekend how about y’all?" Nicole Lynn wrote on X in a now-deleted post.
Garrett, 29, has spent his entire career in Cleveland since being selected first overall in the 2017 NFL draft.
Garrett has six Pro Bowl trips, been named All-Pro four times, and won the 2023 AP Defensive Player of the Year.
In his career, the Browns star has 102.5 sacks with 352 combined tackles and 116 tackles for loss. He also has 20 forced fumbles, so there is no denying his talent.
Now, despite a lot of questions, Garrett and his agent get him a new deal that rewards him nicely and keeps him with the Browns for the foreseeable future.
