This offseason has been all about the Detroit Lions entering a new era with so many coaches taking jobs elsewhere, but one thing remains: the gritty Dan Campbell is still in charge, and as long as he's here, the Lions always have a chance.
Speaking of grittiness, one Lions legend was known for more than just that. Ndamukong Suh was as tough and mean as they come, on the field, and Lions fans couldn't get enough of it. However, Suh did just say something in an interview that won't sit well with Lions fans. Now that he's out of football, he's ventured into commenting on all things NFL, and he's got to keep it relatively objective.
"I think the Bears are going to be silent killers and they're going to create a lot of havoc," Suh told NFL personality Kay Adams in a recent interview.
As a former player, I guess you can say whatever you want. And, as a defensive player, it makes sense that he'd give a hat tip to Bears defensive coordinattor Dennis Allen, since Allen has had plenty of success in that role in the past.
Now, Suh did go on to praise Johnson and the offense as well, though, which is where Lions fans have to draw the line.
"Ultimately I think that coach and that team is going to rally and find a way to be competitive no matter what. I think Caleb and that offense are going to find a groove," he said.
So, Suh is a believer in Johnson and Caleb Williams, huh? Interesting. We will have to see just how much of a turnaround the Bears can have in just one year. As of right now, the Lions are the far superior team and, Ben Johnson or no Ben Johnson, Detroit should have no problem beating Chicago.
When it comes down to who Suh believes will win the NFC North, he did give Lions fans a reason to not completely hate this interview:
"I think the Detroit Lions will pull it out."
