The Indianapolis Colts made a polarizing decision this week when they announced Daniel Jones will start over Anthony Richardson at QB.

Richardson's future with the team now looks very murky, and all signs point towards the Colts being back in the market for a QB in an upcoming NFL Draft. A recent 2026 NFL mock draft from A to Z Sports has the Colts landing one of the top quarterbacks in college football, which would officially close the book on the Richardson era in Indianapolis and start a new one.

10. Indianapolis Colts select Cade Klubnik, QB, Clemson
"The topic on everyone’s mind involving the Colts in training camp is the ongoing QB battle between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones. No matter who wins there is still a world where neither does enough to keep the team out of the QB market in the 2026 NFL Draft. Cade Klubnik is my top QB in the class, and that would still be the case even if I thought Arch Manning was going to declare. If Klubnik is on the board here for the Colts it would take a great 2025 season from Richardson to deter me from drafting him. He hasn’t done that yet so I have the Colts resetting their rookie QB contract window by moving on from Richardson and selecting the dynamic Clemson QB."

I have Klubnik as my top QB in the 2026 NFL Draft, so if the Colts landed him at all, I think it would be a home run, but at pick 10, the value is off the charts. I don't think people will have him fall this far once the 2026 season comes to an end. I expect another big year from the Clemson QB, with the Tigers being viewed as national title contenders and Klubnik being one of the top Heisman candidates in the country.

If you are a Colts fan reading this and already thinking about which QBs the team could target, I'd strongly suggest keeping your eye on Klubnik this season. The name on everyone's mind, of course, will be Arch Manning. Many doubt he will enter his name into the 2026 NFL Draft, but even if he did, I have to be honest and say I think I would prefer Klubnik as a prospect at this time over even Manning.
