Kicker Chase McLaughlin was betting on himself when he came to Tampa Bay in 2023, while the Bucs were taking a gamble on a solid kicker. As it turns out, his arrival was a great deal for both sides, and McLaughlin is cashing in for the biggest contract of his career.

It was announced that McLaughlin was re-signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday, just before the league's legal tampering period began at noon. It was initially announced as a three-year deal, but now, we know just what that three-year deal for Tampa Bay's kicker entails.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the deal is worth 12.3 million dollars over those three years. That comes out to $4.1 million a year — as it stands this very moment, that deal would put him 12th among all NFL kickers for average pay a year, which is a good deal given how successful McLaughlin was last year.

Tampa Bay saw the best kicking season it's had in franchise history, with McLaughlin hitting 29 of his 31 kicks with an accuracy rate of 93.5%. His only two misses were blocks, and he also performed in the playoffs, successfully making four of his five kicks and making every extra point during the postseason.

The McLaughlin deal is slightly more than Tampa Bay paid its last kicker, as the team had previously given Ryan Succop a three-year, $12 million deal in 2021.
