The Steelers' trade for WR Allen Robinson continues to lean more in their favor every day and the newest details hint at Pittsburgh's plans for the veteran wide receiver.
As part of the trade that became official Friday, Robinson reworked his contract with the Steelers. He now has a base salary of $1.165M in 2023 but interestingly took a $5M pay cut for the 2024 season as well.

2023: LA pays $10M total and PIT gives him a $3.835M signing bonus and base of $1.165M.
2024: He now has a $10M base, down from $15M.
Robinson agreeing to move down his 2024 base salary from $15M to $10M suggests that he and the team are potentially interested in him staying in Pittsburgh for both remaining years of his contract.
The soon-to-be 30-year-old will certainly have to prove himself first after having arguably the worst season of his career with the Rams in 2022 where he totaled just 33 catches for 339 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games.
However, it is possible Robinson can turn things back around in 2023. Some would argue that his lack of production last season was due to Los Angeles's quarterback carousel after QB Matthew Stafford was injured mid-season and never returned.
If Robinson can stay healthy and return to form in 2023, the Steelers may have just gotten one of the biggest steals of the offseason.
