The New Orleans Saints have plenty of storylines as the offseason unfolds. They have a pending quarterback competition, led by a new first-time NFL head coach in Kellen Moore.

With that, preparation and reps will be key as the black and gold attempt to find success in an improved NFC South decision. Some news regarding the summer practice schedule and training camp became official this week for the Saints.

No joint practices for New Orleans

The Saints will not have joint practices previously scheduled with the Los Angeles Chargers. Instead, they will just be practicing at UC Irvine in California for nine days (August 6-August 15). Kellen Moore discussed this outcome last week, but the NFL made it official this week.

A lot of NFL teams are going through joint practices this summer with fellow squads. Check out the full list of matchups for preparation below.

Training camp update

Saints rookies and veterans report to training camp on July 22nd.

With that, there is about to be about a month of empty time when it comes to practicing as a team. Players usually take vacations, do individual workouts, or spend time with their families during this time of the offseason.

Head coach Kellen Moore has proven to value team culture so far this offseason. He cancelled the final minicamp practice for a team outing. There was another team activity (paintball) prior to that as well.

Team bonding obviously a priority for new Saints coach Kellen Moore. He surprised players by canceling the final minicamp practice today and arranging a team outing instead. Previously took a day to play paintball and another day for community outreach during OTAs. -- Mike Triplett
