New video shows that the Los Angeles Rams were never interested in a top quarterback prospect despite draft rumors

In the months leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, many speculated that the Los Angeles Rams were interested in selecting a quarterback, with several mock drafts sending them Jaxson Dart out of Ole Miss.

The Rams ended up not selecting a single quarterback in the entire draft, and Dart was selected by the New York Giants, who traded up one pick ahead of the Rams.

With Dart going off the board one pick before the Rams were initially slated to pick, many used that as speculation that the selection of Dart was the confirmation the Rams needed to move back in round one.

However, a new behind-the-scenes video released by the Giants disproves that. The video opens up with a scene of Giants' general manager Joe Schoen on the phone and saying, "Les [Snead], hi, buddy. You still interested in moving back?", implying the Rams had already made it known their interest in moving back well before the Giants made their choice.

Later on, Schoen received another call from Les Snead that was interrupted by Houston Texans' general manager Nick Caserio. After that call, Schoen informs Snead that they were taking Houston's deal to move back instead of whatever offer the Rams had submitted. Los Angeles ended up trading back with the Atlanta Falcons later, nabbing an extra first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

For a quick summary of that: The Rams were clearly not interested in selecting Dart, or any other quarterback, there and were already sending out offers to move back before he was even off the board.

Any of that pre-draft smoke felt thin, given that Dart's skill set doesn't fit in the Rams offense, and it's nice to know that the pre-draft feelings I had were confirmed by the way the Rams handled the draft.

While the future of the Rams after Matthew Stafford is still up in the air, it feels pretty likely that the Rams didn't believe anyone in this class was worthy of being the heir apparent to Stafford and are looking ahead to the 2026 NFL Draft, which already looks much more enticing at quarterback.
