NFC East: Most surprising takeaways from 2024 NFLPA survey

On Wednesday, the NFL Players Association released its 2024 team report cards, polling 1,706 players regarding their daily experience and working conditions. 

Per the NFLPA website, the annual survey is designed to “highlight positive clubs, identify areas that could use improvement and highlight best practices and standards.” 

Below is the most surprising takeaway from the survey for each NFC East team.

Dallas Cowboys: Jerry Jones is the worst owner in NFC East

The Cowboys could be grading on a curve. Jones’ B grade looks good on paper, but his No. 19 rank puts him in the bottom half of NFL owners and last in the NFC East. 

Players rated Jones 8.6 out of 10 for his willingness to invest in the facilities. But details of the survey suggest otherwise. While the locker room and weight room both received A grades, the team’s training room and staff are among the NFL’s worst.

Their 26th-ranked training room received a C-minus grade, with the trainers receiving a D+. Players believe the team’s training room is understaffed and lacks basic equipment. As a result, only 62% of players feel they receive enough one-on-one treatment.

Considering his team is worth $9B, more than any team in professional sports, Jones clearly can afford to do better. (Full report)

New York Giants: No family rooms during games

Interestingly, the Giants are one of eight NFL teams still owned by their founding families. Team founder Tim Mara passed the team down to his sons Jack and Wellington in 1959. John Mara (Wellington's son) took over in 2005 with co-owner Steve Tish.

Given their familial ties, it’s almost impossible to believe that the Giants are among 12 NFL teams without a family room for game days. The team does provide daycare for games, but the report doesn’t provide specifics. (Full report)

Philadelphia Eagles: Head coach Nick Sirianni is efficient 

Not only does the team believe their coach is a good listener, but 100% of players feel Sirianni is efficient with their time, giving him top marks in the category.

After an embarrassing end to the regular season and a blowout loss in the playoffs, ownership hired a pair of new coordinators, adding that the head coach would no longer be involved with offensive game plans. Factor in reports about his inability to control his emotions and Sirianni’s grade seems inflated. (Full report)

Washington Commanders: Josh Harris isn't the worst owner in the division

For the second year in a row, Washington finished last in the survey, with only the strength coaches earning an A. Harris finished 18th among his peers (one spot ahead of Jones) after one year of NFL ownership.

He should enjoy the honeymoon phase while addressing the locker room, training room and treatment of families, as all three areas received an F-minus from the players. (Full report)
