Buccaneers QB Jake Browning was asked about fending off the backup spot in a competition with Connor Bazelak and rookie Jalon Daniels.

“I think any time you’re in the NFL and you think you’re above any kind of competition, you’re in the wrong business,” Browning said, via the team website. “I welcome any competition and feel pretty confident that I’ve been really well this camp. I had the back thing pop up, and really before that I felt like I was playing really well. And then since coming back I’ve kind of picked up right where I left off. Yeah, JD played well and Baze is a really good player, too, so we’ve got a good room. I’m not shying away from any competition. Bring it.”

Falcons

Falcons HC Kevin Stefanski is once again being reunited with veteran DE Za’Darius Smith, who opted to join Stefanski in Atlanta rather than return to the Browns. Stefanski said Smith has a huge personality and will provide the team with a much-needed boost.

“I think a veteran presence can be helpful in any room, and we certainly have some younger guys in the edge room,” Stefanski explained to the team website. “I think a guy like Z can provide a ton of value that way.”

Panthers

Panthers LB Devin Lloyd is honored to wear the green dot during his first year with the team, something he said was non-negotiable with whatever team he chose to sign with in free agency.

“I always practiced wearing the green dot in Jacksonville,” Lloyd told ESPN. “I played with the green dot in a couple of games — shoot, I love it. … That was a nonnegotiable in free agency…I’m grateful to be in the situation I’m in right now. Ultimately, what I do against them and what I do against other opponents, that’ll all speak for itself.”
