Commanders

Commanders QB Jayden Daniels spoke about taking charge after a big hit and leading the team back from a scoreless start to a comeback win over the Eagles on Monday Night Football.

“It probably felt like it was longer,” Daniels said, via ESPN. “But it’s always good to get back in the win column. It was complete BS, just how we started and what we were doing. At the point, it wasn’t our brand of football that we want to showcase. You just get frustrated and you go up and you got to speak your mind. That’s what I did and just helped snap everybody back into place. You make those sacrifices because guys are putting everybody on the line. Who am I to not do the same thing?”

“He showed a lot of toughness,” HC Dan Quinn said of the hit Daniels took. “He took a real shot toward the end of the first half. To see him [go], ‘I’m good,’ and he comes back and then made a bunch of plays. … I always feel [his] poise and control.”

Cowboys

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones commented on HC Brian Schottenheimer after the Cardinals came from behind to beat Dallas on Sunday. Jones continued to back Schottenheimer as the team’s head coach and said the Cowboys let Schottenheimer down.

“That’s not in my mind at this time,” Jones said, via ESPN. “The main thing that’s in my mind is we tee it up for those kind of spots to win it. We really do want those situations. Call for it. Bring it on. It’s an indictment of the whole show. A lot of people let Brian down today and so for whatever criticism we want to have of Brian, we can all get in line. That was a total team effort out there for us. And we have to be, for our fans, we have to be better than that when we got our hands on a win and then drop the ball.”

“I believe in our staff. I believe in our players,” Schottenheimer said. “I only know how to do it one way, and that’s the work. I’m a worker, I’m a problem solver. I think we got guys in there in that locker room that are problem solvers. We have guys in there that want to be great. We got guys that believe in what we’re doing as a football team in all three phases, and they’re hurting. They’re hurting right now, too. And so as a leader, I’m going to stand in front and hit them with the truth.”

Eagles

Eagles RB Saquon Barkley said the front office told him he won’t be traded at the deadline, and he remains focused on turning things around for Philadelphia this season.

“When that message was relayed to me, it definitely does mean a lot,” Barkley said, via NFL.com. “The whole time my mindset was, we have a little issue going on right now, and I feel like I’m the type of player and the type of leader that can help us get out of it, and I want to be one of the reasons why we fix it.”

“I would love to be here,” Barkley added. “I plan on being here. The way the season’s going, I’m not one of those guys that’s like, ‘Oh, the season’s not going the way we [want], let’s just jump ship.’ That’s not the type of person I am. I’m just frustrated because my mind is there, but with the hammy and all that stuff, my body’s not really where I need [it] to be right now. But I’ve just got to keep grinding, rehabbing, and just continue to try to get stronger and get better.”
