NFL analyst links AFC East team to blockbuster Micah Parsons trade

The Buffalo Bills have been knocking on the door of a Super Bowl for the past few years, but for various reasons, the breakthrough has never come. Whether it is due to heartbreaking playoff losses, injuries or poorly timed defensive breakdowns, the Bills have consistently fallen just short of reaching the mountaintop.

But with a roster all in their prime, the window to win is right now. If they wait, they risk becoming an older, expensive and unequipped team that will fall apart in a few seasons. NFL lead draft writer Eric Edholm believes a Micah Parsons trade could be the exact move that gets the Bills over the hump.

Edholm stated, “Strictly from a who-needs-him-most standpoint, there’s a strong case for the Bills to do everything in their power to at least make Dallas an offer.” He continued, “Sure, there are roadblocks everywhere… But the Bills need to have tunnel vision on winning a Super Bowl now, having come achingly close multiple times over the past several years.”

This belief has sparked conversations within Bills fandom around the idea of Buffalo actually pursuing a trade for Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons. It is an idea that, on paper, seems very difficult to accomplish, as the Bills lack cap space flexibility to fit Parsons' pending new contract. But the argument is not about feasibility; rather it is about urgency.

The team has reached a point where they cannot afford to play it safe. The team needs to find true game-wreckers, the kind that the Buffalo defense has not had. They need a guy who can single-handedly end drives, shift momentum and tilt playoff games in their favor. Parsons is that type of player.

Parsons is one of the best edge defenders in the league, racking up 52.5 sacks and nine forced fumbles in only 63 games. He could be the final piece that finally pushes Buffalo over the edge. He is still young, dominant and would immediately elevate an already talented defense.

There would be a ton of obstacles to overcome, including financial hurdles, draft capital and competition from other teams. But if you are the team’s front office, and you are staring down at a team with a superstar quarterback in his prime, the real question is not “can we do it?, it should be “how can we not at least try to get him?”
