The award brings financial support for Treadwell’s charitable work. The NFLPA will donate $10,000 to his Lead the Way Foundation, which creates leadership opportunities for young people in underfunded communities.
The foundation works in Chicago, Dallas and Indianapolis. Its initiatives include community events and educational opportunities designed to help young people develop skills and access resources.
Treadwell said the honor means a great deal because he understands the impact of having someone believe in you. He added that football gave him a platform to change lives and offer hope to the next generation.
The Colts receiver’s selection also makes him eligible for the NFLPA’s Alan Page Community Award, the union’s top recognition for player community service. The annual award includes an additional $100,000 donation to the winner’s foundation or chosen charity.
Treadwell’s recognition highlights how NFL players can use their visibility to support causes beyond football. The event’s focus on survivors and their daughters gave Breast Cancer Awareness Month added meaning.
The NFLPA selects a Community MVP each week to recognize a player-led effort with a positive community impact. Treadwell’s work with survivors and young people puts his foundation’s mission at the center of this week’s honor.
