In what has been a banner year for current Fox Sports color commentator Tom Brady, the New England Patriots legend is receiving yet another batch of good news today. Before the beginning of the 2024 NFL season, the league put rules in place to prevent him from being able to attend weekly production meetings at his Fox Sports job. This was due in part to a perceived conflict of interest, as the retired QB currently has an ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders franchise. The league has decided to adjust those rules.

What Does the Rule Change Mean?

According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, while some restrictions will still be in place regarding Brady’s broadcast role, the league will grant him more freedom to meet with and interview players and coaches from various teams. The NFL had also given the broadcaster some leeway surrounding this specific rule last season, as the league allowed him to attend production meetings in the lead-up to Super Bowl LIX.

The report did state that the legend would still be barred from performing some duties pertaining to his role, such as attending other practices.

Will This Change Affect Brady’s Commentating?

In his debut season as a color commentator for Fox Sports’ top broadcast team, Brady received mixed reviews from fans over the course of the 2024 season. He did receive praise from fans for his commentating of Super Bowl LIX, with the star QB attributing his success in commentating the big game to being allowed to prepare for the game more thoroughly.

Much of his success during his time as a player came from both his unyielding work ethic and razor-sharp preparation skills. Now that he is in the broadcast booth and with the league giving him much more latitude to prepare for each game he commentates, fans could be in for a real treat whenever he is in the booth this upcoming season. Both Brady and Kevin Burkhardt will be on the call for the Week 1 game between the Washington Commanders and New York Giants on Sunday, September 7.
