NFL Draft bets: AFC West betting odds for each team's first pick

We've been going division-by-division to find our favorite NFL Draft bets for each team's first selection later this month.

We close the study today with the AFC West, and diverse set of teams. We have the Chargers sitting at No. 5 in the draft, the Chiefs bringing up the rear at No. 32, and the Broncos and Raiders in the early teens with plenty of needs throughout.

We've got four bets for each team's first pick, all at plus-money. The first round is set for Thursday, April 25.

Odds are courtesy of DraftKings.

Position of 1st Drafted Player: AFC West edition

Los Angeles Chargers

The favorites:

  • Offensive Lineman (-110)
  • Wide Receiver (+125)
  • Cornerback (+750)

The Chargers, currently drafting fifth, are a popular choice to trade down with a team like the Vikings who are after a QB, as the first round picks seem to be QB-QB-QB-Marvin Harrison Jr. in that order.

In the event that Los Angeles does trade down, OL is going to be the pick. However, if they stay put at fifth, you have to think wide receiver is the play, and most likely Malik Nabers, who is being lauded as an elite WR prospect who some teams rank higher than Harrison.

The Chargers traded Keenan Allen and let go of Mike Williams, and there is a massive hole at the position. Is that really how Jim Harbaugh wants to enter 2024 with Justin Herbert?

They need pass-catchers, and ones who are under team control for the next five years at an affordable rate. Nabers seems just too good to pass up on here, giving Herbert an elite option for years to come.

Our choice: Wide Receiver (+125)

Las Vegas Raiders

The favorites:

  • Offensive Lineman (+150)
  • Cornerback (+150)
  • Quarterback (+230)

The Raiders have a clear hole at RT, and the No. 13 spot in the draft appears to be a sweet spot for a whole bunch of promising tackle options.

We'll opt for simplicity here, grabbing this bet at plus-money. It's both need-based and logical based on where they are in the draft.

A dark-horse choice would be quarterback, as Aidan O'Connell surely is not the answer, but we'd prefer to play it safer.

Our choice: Offensive Lineman (+150)

Kansas City Chiefs

The favorites:

  • Wide Receiver (+100)
  • Offensive Lineman (+145)
  • Cornerback (+380)

When you give Patrick Mahomes as much money as you do, you have to nail key offensive pieces in the draft.

Kansas City's defense was dominant last year, and we'd expect them to focus in on another offensive playmaker as they look to go for a three-peat.

The off-field concerns with Rashee Rice, a rookie WR last year, only further pushes WR up the board in our eyes. There should be quite a few options here at the end of the first round, and don't sleep on the fifth-year option teams can give to their first round picks.

That can come in handy particularly for a position like wide receiver, where the top of the market players are signing lucrative deals. The Chiefs are always going to have their hands tied with how much Mahomes gets.

Our choice: Wide Receiver (+100)

Denver Broncos

The favorites:

  • Quarterback (-135)
  • Defensive Line/EDGE (+250)
  • Wide Receiver (+550)

The Broncos are currently a mess. The only quarterbacks on their roster right now are Jarrett Stidham and Ben Dinucci. Denver is definitely going to take a passer in the draft, but is it really going to be in the first?

At No. 12, assuming the Broncos don't move up, is Bo Nix really a first- round talent? We just don't see it, and forcing a pick in the teens on a quarterback simply for the sake of taking a quarterback seems like a great way to stay mired in mediocrity for years to come.

Rather, we see this as a good chance for the Broncos to simply take the best player available, particularly on the defensive side of the football, where they really struggled last season.

At this spot, that seems to most likely be at cornerback, with names like Quinyon Mitchell and Terrion Arnold the most likely first names to be taken at defensive back. We're going in that direction here, and if the Broncos do take a QB, we look forward to seeing them inside the top-10 for years to come.

Our choice: Cornerback (+700)
