NFL Draft bets: Various betting markets for total offensive players taken in first round

The NFL Draft is just one week away, and soon we can say goodbye to the mock drafts and start getting excited about each of our team's respective selections.

The closer we get to the first round, the more and more betting markets open up on the various sportsbooks like DraftKings and FanDuel. One such market worth delving into is the over/under options available for how many players at a certain position will be taken in the first round, i.e. Over/under 4.5 quarterbacks.

We'll look to see if we can find any value now, starting on the offensive side of the market.

Over/unders worth knowing for Offensive players taken in Round One

Odds are courtesy of DraftKings unless stated otherwise.

The first round of next week's NFL Draft is expected to be offensive-heavy, as DraftKings has the over/under set on 21.5 total offensive players taken in Round One, of the 32 available selections.

Total Offensive Linemen Selected in 1st Round

Odds: Over 9.5 (-205) | Under 9.5 (+165)

The most plentiful position from the first round is along the offensive line, as this 9.5 line on total players from that position group to be among the first 32 picks is the highest of any position, by far.

This class is expected to be rich in talent along the offensive trenches, and noted draft gurus like the NFL's Daniel Jeremiah have nine OL prospects inside his top 30. Thus, this 9.5 number is purposeful, as Jeremiah is widely regarded as one of the top draft minds in the league.

NFL teams also realize more and more that you cannot win a Super Bowl without strong offensive line play, and that positional importance might cause a second wave of OL to go in the mid to late 20s, which is where this over/under will be determined.

Mel Kiper's and Field Yates's most recent mock draft also had nine OL going in Round One, and we've made it once again to this critical number.

This could be an ultimate sweat, but this 9.5 does seem to be an inflection point. I'm in.

Betting: Under 9.5 OL Selected in 1st Round (+165 DraftKings)

Total Wide Receivers Selected in 1st Round

Odds: Over 6.5 (+180) | Under 6.5 (-240)

Wide receiver is another position this draft is loaded with. There are the three stars expected to go inside the Top 10 in Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze, and then Brian Thomas seems to be a lock to be taken in Round One as well.

After that, there are quite a few intriguing names that could go, and plenty of teams down in the draft that could stand to nail a young stud WR, like Buffalo and Kansas City. Can we get three more WRs taken in the first round?

Adonai Mitchell and Xavier Worthy are two popular names, and there is a big group of guys that seem to go inside the top 50.

A position like WR is one that teams may be more inclined to grab in Round One, as the fifth-year option available for first round picks helps teams maintain the cost of a pass-catcher, should they find a stud.

I like the value on the over here.

Betting: Over 6.5 WRs Selected in 1st Round (+182 FanDuel)

Total Quarterbacks Selected in 1st Round

Odds: Over 4.5 (-200) | Under 4.5 (+160)

I don't agree with it, but it seems likely that one or both of Bo Nix or Michael Penix is going to go in the first round. There's a chance the first four picks are QB-QB-QB-QB with Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye and JJ McCarthy. Then, we wait.

The only real bet to make here is the under, but I think I have to just stay off this market.

Consider, though, that prior to the first round last year, hype was building on Will Levis to be taken as one of the first QBs, and he fell all the way out of Round One. QBs tend to get the attention in mock draft season. I really don't see why a team like say the Broncos would spend the 12th pick in the draft on a guy like Nix, that they very well could nab later in the first, or for the sake of this market, the top of the second.

Total Running Backs Selected in 1st Round

Odds: Over 0.5 (+800) | Under 0.5 (-750)

Nothing to really bet here, but it's clear no RBs are expected to sniff the first round this season. The league has for the most part turned on the positional importance of ball carriers, and there are no prospects like a Bijan Robinson garnering hype this year.
