NFL Draft is on tap all day long

We know there are four playoff games tonight: three in the NHL and one in the NBA, but it's time for the NFL Draft! Oh, NFL, how we've missed you. There is quite the betting market for the NFL Draft, and after weeks of scanning the rumor mill, mock drafts and the odds, we've settled on three of our favorites for tonight.

Making picks on tonight's picks

This betting market fluctuates wildly throughout the day. The odds you see below may no longer be available, so be sure to check OddsChecker and your sportsbooks to find the best price.

Cardinals to take OL first (+100 DK)

Arizona has actively been shopping the third pick in tonight's draft for weeks, but there haven't yet been any takers. A lot can happen here at No. 3. According to the latest reports, the Texans are going to take EDGE Will Anderson Jr. with the second pick. If they do, a QB-needy team could hop Indianapolis, who selects fourth, to secure the passer they desire. No matter what happens, it seems relatively clear that Arizona wants to draft a lineman.

Ohio State's OT Paris Johnson Jr. is the most popular projected pick, and it makes sense: the Cardinals need to protect Kyler Murray. If they can't find a trade partner, don't be surprised if they reach on Johnson, which is why the young tackle to go in the Top 5 at +250 is an intriguing bet. We'll wager that Arizona does find a willing trade partner, moves down a few selections, and grabs a tackle who will hopefully become a foundational piece to the next era for the Cards.

Seahawks to take QB first (+400 DK)

Seattle is slotted to pick at No. 5 tonight, and that to us feels like a perfect landing spot for Florida's Anthony Richardson. Richardson has been one of the most talked about prospects leading up to the draft, lauded as having the highest ceiling of any of the quarterbacks in this class.

The Seahawks have Geno Smith back this year, and with Richardson needing to sit and learn for a year, a situation like this is simply perfect. We're sorry, but Geno Smith isn't winning you a Super Bowl, Seattle. Smith signed a big extension this offseason, but it's essentially just a one-year deal. We'll take a flyer at this price that Seahawks go passer first and pass over some of the strong DL talent sure to be available to them here.

Chiefs to take WR with first pick (+150 DK)

When you sign your franchise quarterback to a 10-year, $450 million contract, nailing the draft becomes even more important. The defending Super Bowl champs did lose a few contributors from their most recent championship run, and if they elect to keep this pick, we see only one logical move: wide receiver.

JuJu Smith-Schuster is gone. Mecole Hardman is gone. Currently, the depth chart is topped by Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore. We're sorry, but that's not going to do it for Mahomes and this offense.

This seems like a terrific spot to stay put and take a pass-catcher. TCU's Quentin Johnston, a size-speed specimen that could become a serious weapon in this league, could make sense here. As could Jalin Hyatt of Tennessee, more of a down-field threat, a skillset always needed in this offense.

It's the favorite on the board, but we're rolling with it anyway.

Outlier Trends of the Day

Trae Young — Assists

Trae Young has exceeded 8.5 assists in 12 of his last 15 games against top-10 scoring defenses (10.9 assists/game average).

Trae Young over 8.5 assists (-150 MGM)

Jack Hughes — Shots on Goal

Jack Hughes has exceeded 3.5 shots on goal in 11 of his last 14 games at home after a win (5.3 shots on goal/game average).

Jack Hughes over 3.5 shots on goal (-160 DK)

In the news ...

Heat take down Bucks; Knicks advance — With Miami's Game 5 in, the Heat become just the fifth team in NBA history to win as a No. 8 seed in the playoffs. The Heat forced OT over the top-seeded Bucks thanks to Jimmy Butler, holding on for a 128-126 win. Miami will now face off against the New York Knicks, who handled business against the Cavaliers in just five games. With the Bucks out, the Celtics are resounding favorites to win the East, at -175. Game 1 between the Heat and Knicks is set for Sunday, and New York is 4.5-point favorites.

Kraken go up 3-2 on Avalanche — The Seattle Kraken, playing in their first postseason as a young franchise, have pushed the defending Stanley Cup champs to the brink. The Kraken won 3-2 on Wednesday night and now head home with a chance to put this series away. With Colorado potentially falling, we like loading up a future on the Dallas Stars to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals at +350. Dallas would draw Seattle next, the most favorable matchup possible in the West.

Seattle Mariners shut down Robbie Ray for season — The Mariners had high hopes when signing former Cy Young winner Robbie Ray to head their rotation, and he did indeed help them to the postseason last year for the first time in more than 20 years. Unfortunately, Ray will not be available to help Seattle get back, undergoing flexor tendon repair surgery, forcing him to miss the entire season. The Mariners are currently 11-13 and +550 to win the AL West.
