NFL Executives Expect Las Vegas Raiders' Jakobi Meyers to be on Trade Block

Over the last four weeks, the Las Vegas Raiders have looked the part of a team that should be looking to sell ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

They've lost four in a row and gotten blown out in two of those. Along the way they've struggled on both sides of the ball.

Even if they manage to win in Week 6 against an underwhelming Tennessee Titans team, that doesn't seem like something that would get the season back on track.

They've already moved on from one of their veteran players, surprisingly releasing Germaine Pratt after Week 5.

Pratt might not be the last veteran from the Raiders who finds himself playing elsewhere ahead of the trade deadline.

ESPN's Adam Schefter recently released a list of players who NFL executives and coaches have told him they expect to be on the trade block this year. One of the players on that list was Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.

Meyers wanted out before the season began. When he couldn't come to an agreement with the Raiders for a contract extension, he requested a trade. The Raiders didn't grant that request, leaving him to play out the final year of his current deal with the team.

That seemed like a good decision early in the year. Meyers opened the season with eight catches for 97 yards in a win over the New England Patriots.

His numbers have steadily decline since then. He had six catches for 68 yards the following and then three for 63 in Week 3. He hasn't reached 35 yards in either of the last two weeks.

Now the Raiders may be regretting not actively working to trade him sooner as his value is likely lower now than it would have been before the season started.

There should still be a market for Meyers based on his previous seasons. Meyers made 158 catches for 1834 yards over his first two seasons in Vegas.

Him and Smith just haven't quite gotten on the same page yet and with the season on its way to being lost, he's really just taking snaps away from the organization's younger receivers.

The Raiders spent picks on Jack Bech and Dont'e Thornton this year and second-year receiver Tre Tucker had a monster game a few weeks ago. Getting playing time for those guys will have more value than any production they get from Meyers if the team isn't going to win anyway.

With his contract expiring and the Raiders not seeming to have interest in extending his deal, the best thing they can do is trade Meyers and try to get some value for him on his way out of town.

It would be surprising if the Raiders didn't find a trade partner for Meyers in the few weeks left before the NFL trade deadline.
