The Tennessee Titans continue to reshape the franchise under new head coach Robert Saleh. This week, Saleh revealed one of the team’s biggest off-field changes. The Titans removed all seed oils from the team facility as part of a larger nutrition overhaul ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

Saleh shared the update during a media session on Thursday, May 21. The first-year Titans coach said the organization wants to improve player performance through better food options. Tennessee replaced oils like canola and soybean with other cooking alternatives inside the building.

The move marks another crucial change for a Titans team that already looks very different entering 2026. Tennessee hired Saleh after firing Brian Callahan earlier this offseason after his run with the New York Jets. The franchise also plans to build around former No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward as the team pushes for a turnaround this season.

Saleh credited team owner Amy Adams Strunk and the Titans nutrition staff for helping make the changes happen fast.

“One of the first things I think that we did here is get rid of all of the seed oils in the building, which I think the players appreciate,” Saleh told reporters. “Ms. Amy has allowed us to attack the budget and get the players a better variety.”

Saleh also praised the cafeteria staff for improving the food program inside the facility.

“I’ve been in six different buildings, and I’d put this staff up there with the best of them,” Saleh said. “The product they put out in the cafeteria daily is outstanding.”

The topic of seed oils continues to divide nutrition experts. Some people argue that seed oils hurt health and performance. Others strongly disagree.

Matti Marklund, an assistant professor in International Health, pushed back on claims that seed oils cause harm.

“There is abundant evidence suggesting that seed oils are not bad for you. If anything, they are good for you,” Marklund said. He added, “have been demonized based on misunderstandings of how they’re made and how the human body uses them, as well as their ubiquity in ultraprocessed foods.”

The Titans will open the 2026 regular season on Sept. 13 against Saleh’s former team, the Jets.
