NFL free agency is about to kick off, meaning some of the most exciting days of the offseason are nearing. Which teams will make drastic moves to change the course of their franchise? These are free agency predictions: WR edition.
Tyreek Hill going back to where it all started in free agency just makes sense. After suffering a major injury, it is unclear what the future holds for Hill. If he intends to continue playing, rejoining Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs seems to be the only option.
Stefon Diggs will certainly be looking to join a contender at this stage of his career, and the San Francisco 49ers are in need of a veteran presence. Brandon Aiyuk will never play for the team again, leaving a hole that needs to be filled in free agency or the draft.
Mike Evans will be hitting the open free agency market, but it is just too difficult seeing him leave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A franchise legend like Evans should only play for one team, and it’s likely that will be the case.
Rashid Shaheed is coming off a season where he started on one of the worst teams in the NFL and ended up winning a Super Bowl. He played a major role in the Seattle Seahawks’ success, setting him up for a good pay day in free agency. A team that could throw some money at a playmaker is the Cleveland Browns. Expected to target the offensive line in the early stages of the draft, Cleveland will need to turn to free agency to add a receiver.
Wan’Dale Robinson joining former Head Coach Brian Daboll and the Tennessee Titans seems inevitable. He would be paired with Calvin Ridley to give Cam Ward a nice duo of playmakers to build chemistry with.
The New England Patriots need a receiver, but the caliber of the player they get can vary. Trading for AJ Brown is the dream, but what if that doesn’t work out? Adding Alec Pierce is the next best option, giving New England a reliable receiver after releasing Diggs earlier in the offseason.
These free agent WRs seem easier to predict than in typical years. A combination of obvious connections and necessary needs creates this lack of surprise factor. That being said, nothing is official until the deals are signed, so who knows what truly can happen in the coming days.
