The task in front of New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn isn't a small one, with the former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator in charge of an overhaul of the team both on and off the field.
Glenn comes to the Big Apple looking to establish a culture that he hopes will put the team in good standing for success down the road. Yes, there will be some lumps that have to be taken, with many expecting that this season, but it is all part of the process.
Given that this is Glenn's first head coaching role, for CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin, when ranking all 32 head coaches, Glenn comes in at No. 28.
"Returning to the same franchise with which he started his playing career, Glenn has no shortage of spirit, which fit right in as part of Dan Campbell's Detroit Lions staff," Benjamin writes. "His greatest challenge will be stabilizing, not further dramatizing, such a troubled franchise."
There's no denying that the past decade or so has been a tough watch for Jets fans, and even last season, when they ran it back with Rodgers, there was hope things might change.
But they didn't. They got worse.
Glenn had to clean up that mess this offseason, with the help of general manager Darren Mougey, and thus far, things appear to be running relatively smoothly for the AFC East franchise.
Some might look at being listed at No. 28 as a slight on Glenn, but it is part of the process of cutting your teeth as the one who now sits in the big chair.
However, if things go as many hope, come this time next year, Glenn will be significantly higher on this list.
