NFL insider casts doubt on another 49ers reunion

The San Francisco 49ers have reunited with linebacker Dre Greenlaw, wide receiver Deebo Samuel, and most recently, defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, hoping the moves will help propel the team toward another Super Bowl run.

One NFL insider, however, doesn't believe 49ers fans should expect another reunion.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero doesn't expect Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jauan Jennings to return to the Bay Area, despite ongoing speculation linking the veteran receiver to his former team.

Jennings spent his first six NFL seasons with the 49ers before departing in free agency this past offseason to join the Vikings. Through five games, he has just four catches for 43 yards and has yet to make a significant impact on Minnesota's offense.

His final two seasons in San Francisco were far more productive, as Jennings caught 132 passes for 1,618 yards and 15 touchdowns during that span.

"I would think the 49ers will turn their attention to stopping the revolving door at receiver," Pelissero wrote on his Substack, per Athlon Sports. "I don't see a Jauan Jennings reunion being an option at this time."

Jennings signed a one-year, $8 million contract with the Vikings in May, setting him up to become a free agent again after the season. He might increase his value by returning to head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense.

The 49ers' receiving corps has been devastated by injuries this season, making a potential reunion with Jennings an understandable topic of speculation. The veteran already knows the offense and could provide some familiarity at a position plagued by injuries.

However, despite the fit, Pelissero doesn't see a reunion happening.
