NFL insider Casts Doubt on Tyreek Hill’s Availability in Coming 2026 Season

A little over two months ago, NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus made headlines by claiming that his client, former Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill — who suffered a very serious knee injury in 2025 — was on track to be ready for the start of the 2026 season. However, insider Tom Pelissero has since come out with comments that cast doubt on Hill’s availability not just to start the season but for the entirety of the campaign.

Pelissero said on the Rich Eisen Show earlier this week that the jury is out on whether Hill will be able to play at all in the coming season. He also noted the severity of the injury he’s still recuperating from, and how the serious nature of the injury ultimately forced the Dolphins’ hand in releasing him. Hill went down with the injury early on in the second half of a 27-21 Miami win over the New York Jets back in September of 2025 and was hospitalized overnight.

“The issue with Tyreek is we truly don’t know will he be healthy enough to play right,” Pelissero said. “Forget Week 1, I’m talking about all of 2026. That was a severe knee injury, which is why Miami really didn’t have a choice but to cut him loose.”

As the month of June approaches, Hill is still searching for his next NFL home after the Dolphins released him following a four-season stint with them. His Dolphins stint was a rollercoaster, as he experienced everything from leading the NFL in receiving yards in 2023 to seeing his 2025 campaign get cut dramatically short by an ACL injury.

If Pelissero’s comments are of any indication, Hill might be waiting a whole lot longer before an NFL team decides to pick him up on the open market. And any team that does opt to sign him will be taking a gamble, as not only is Hill on the heels of a traumatic injury, but he’s on the other side of 30 years old with his best football already behind him.

Which team ends up signing Hill and when the wide receiver will make his season debut in 2026 (if he does at all) are both interesting storylines for Dolphins fans to follow in the months to come.
