If Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry is made available ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline, the phones in Baltimore might be ringing off the hook.
ESPN’s Dan Graziano said Henry is a name to watch, especially if the Ravens lose on Thursday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“As running back names swirl, keep half an eye on Baltimore’s Derrick Henry,” Graziano wrote. “Henry is turning 33 in January. He is scheduled to earn $12 million next year, and none of that money is guaranteed. If he isn’t in Baltimore’s plans beyond this year, the Ravens could find themselves fielding offers over the next week.”
Graziano said he’s “not sure how realistic” it is, but the Henry situation is “something to keep an eye on” going into the deadline.
Despite Henry being 32 years old, he continues to set NFL records. While the Ravens are currently fighting to stay alive in the playoff race, a 4-5 record going into the deadline might change their outlook, especially with the latest injuries to quarterbacks Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley.
Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor is also a name to watch, but the Colts reportedly want a first-round pick, which has teams hesitant to make a move.
Henry is older and on a cheaper contract, so teams could pivot and try to acquire the five-time Pro Bowler, especially if they are in win-now mode.
The Ravens sending Henry elsewhere would all but signal a rebuild is going into effect, so it’s a situation to watch closely over the next several days.
