NFL Insider Ian Rapoport Sends Message To Aaron Rodgers

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport sent a no-so-subtle message to Aaron Rodgers this Wednesday.

Rodgers has not yet announced if he'll play football this upcoming season. If he's not ready to hang up his cleats, most people assume he'll sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After all, the franchise's quarterback room is currently being led by Mason Rudolph.

Last month, Rapoport reported that he'd be surprised if the Steelers don't sign Rodgers this offseason.

"It would be a surprise if Aaron Rodgers is not on the Steelers right now. I'm not saying he's made his decision, I'm not saying retirement's ruled out... But it would be a surprise. Maybe a better question is just when," Rapoport said. "And to me the one that makes the most sense is the news will come out right before mandatory minicamp. Show up, little media, get on the field, get the playbook, see ya later, goodbye for the summer. Come back when training camp is starting and then everything is a go."

Despite that report, Rodgers and the Steelers failed to reach an agreement before OTAs. That's not the end of the world, but it does shorten the amount of time he'll have to build chemistry with his potential teammates.

The focus now shifts over to training camp. If Rodgers is serious about playing football in 2025, he'll need to sign a deal before the Steelers open up camp on July 24.

On Wednesday, the Steelers shared their training camp schedule with their fans. That led to an interesting response from Rapoport.

"If any fans … or reporters… or veteran QBs want to plan for a visit for any reason," Rapoport wrote on X.

This is most likely Rapoport's way of hinting at Rodgers' future.

Rodgers is coming off a season where he threw for 3,897 yards with 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He's no longer an MVP candidate, but he could still do damage on the gridiron.
