NFL insider names Chiefs as potential landing spot for offensive playmaker recently released by AFC rival

The Kansas City Chiefs are rumored to be interested in adding one receiver prior to their playoff run.

On Friday, the Baltimore Ravens waived Diontae Johnson after a very tumultuous tenure that only resulted in one catch for six yards.

And the following day, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Johnson is expected to be claimed off waivers and potential landing spots "include but are not limited to the Chargers and Chiefs - if Johnson even makes it that far on waivers."

His next stop will be Johnson's fourth team this season. In March, Johnson was traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Carolina Panthers. Then, the Panthers traded him to the Ravens at the end of October.

But prior to his trade to the Panthers, the Chiefs actually inquired about Johnson. However, the Steelers didn't want to do business with Kansas City, if possible, out of fear of sending Johnson to an AFC team.

“They made it clear to the rest of the league that Diontae Johnson was going to be available," Mike Garafolo said back in March. "He had permission, his agent did, Brad Cicala, to go and seek a trade. They talked to a few teams. The Kansas City Chiefs, they had conversations with them at some point, but it didn’t seem like they’d trade him within the AFC to a contender, if possible. So, (they're) sending him to the NFC to the Carolina Panthers, who have been looking to add receivers since last year.”

This week, the team also designated Hollywood Brown to return, with him expected to make his season debut on Saturday. So, do they really want to take a chance on Johnson considering what just happened?

While with the Ravens, Johnson was suspended for one game due to conduct detrimental to the team at the beginning of December.

In a statement, the Ravens said that it is because Johnson refused to enter the game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was sidelined for their game against the New York Giants.

And now, he has been released.

So, will the Chiefs be his next stop?
