NFL insider reveals Micah Parsons’ mom, family attending Cowboys vs. Eagles NFL season opener

Just a few days ago, Micah Parsons was working toward facing the Philadelphia Eagles as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. Instead, he is now with the Green Bay Packers, getting set to face the Detroit Lions. A massive change of scenery for Parsons, his family is apparently not ready to change allegiances.

Mike Garafolo, live from Lincoln Financial Field, revealed Parsons will have two family members in attendance Thursday night. His mother and grandmother will watch the Cowboys and Eagles face off. And still, they are staying loyal to the team that drafted their son/grandson.

“There will be a smattering of Cowboys gear,” Garafolo said. “Including, I am told, and I find this hilarious. Micah Parsons’ mother, Sherese, will be here. Is already on the perimeter with his grandmother. Sherese is wearing Cowboys gear tonight to the game. I can’t believe I heard that but that’s exactly what’s happening tonight with Micah Parsons’ mother here at the Linc.”

The Cowboys clearly have a special place in Parsons’ heart, dating back before he was even with the franchise. Moments before getting picked by Dallas, a video showed Parsons claiming how excited he would be to play for them. Not usual for somebody from near Philadelphia, a city known for having deep distain for their NFC East rival.

“I think the most important thing is that Micah wanted to be a Cowboy,” the agnet of Parsons, David Mulugheta, said. “He grew up cheering for the Cowboys. He wore the blue and white at Penn State and wore it in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys. Micah wanted to be a Cowboy and we did everything we could for him to remain a Cowboy.”

Even so, Parsons no longer wears a star on his helmet. His contract situation played out quite pubicly over the past few months. Multiple people involved have spoken on the matter, including Parsons, Jerry Jones, and Mulugheta. Emotions certainly got involved, eventually leading to the trade to Green Bay.

Still, there appears to be some loyalty from Sherese to still be wearing Cowboys gear. Especially walking into Lincoln Financial Field doing so.

Maybe Sept. 28 is going to get a little awkward in the Parsons household. A return trip to AT&T Stadium for the first time as a Packer will take place from Arlington. A venue where Parsons got his career started, green and cold will instead be worn.
