The Dallas Cowboys entered Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears as slight favorites. After all, Caleb Williams and the Windy City franchise were winless prior to the Week 3 showdown and were coming off a 31-point blowout loss to the Detroit Lions.
So, imagine the disappointment of the Dallas faithful when it was Chicago who came out on top at the end of the game at Soldier Field. Not only that, but the Cowboys were no match at all and played catch-up throughout the contest before the Bears secured the 31-14 victory.
Cowboys legend Michael Irvin perfectly summed up what all of Cowboys Nation was feeling following the disappointing result of the game. On Instagram, he shared a clip of himself petting his dog Zeus, who was looking sad.
Irvin connected it to the Cowboys' loss, highlighting that his "buddy" knew how he was feeling.
"Even my buddy Zues knows how much I am hurting after ANOTHER @DALLASCOWBOYS LOSS!" Irvin wrote. "He loves me so much he even has a tear in his eye."
Sure enough, Irvin was not alone in disappointment, with many commenting on his post and sharing how much they can relate.
"I’ve been a Cowboys fan since I was a kid during the Dorsett era, then came you, the Playmaker era, I don’t even have words for what’s happening now. I will be in mourning until our next win," a commenter wrote.
Another one said, "I am watching the documentary right now and today's loss really does hurt. It's been too long since we've been the powerhouse we once were. It hurts @michaelirvin88."
"We suck smh," a fan added. A fourth supporter remarked, "My feelings exactly."
No one can blame Irvin and the Dallas supporters for feeling frustrated, though. The Cowboys simply couldn't stop the Bears, who saw Williams pull off the best game of his young career with 298 passing yards and four touchdowns on 19-of-28 pass completion.
Dallas' offense couldn't get anything going as well, with their four turnovers really limiting them. The Cowboys also threw three interceptions, with Dak Prescott accounting for two of those.
The Cowboys will have a chance to bounce back in Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers, but it certainly won't be easy as they face their former defensive star Micah Parsons.
