Michael Strahan became one of the best defenders in NFL history during his 15 seasons with the New York Giants. From 1993 to 2007, the defensive end was a six-time All-Pro and the NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and he helped the Giants win a Super Bowl. Strahan also holds the record for most sacks in a single season with 22.5, a mark matched by the Steelers’ T.J. Watt in 2021.

But since his retirement, Strahan has stayed busy, particularly with his television career. For the last 17 years, he has been an analyst on the pregame show “Fox NFL Sunday” and hosts the game show “$100,000 Pyramid.” But arguably his biggest role is as a co-host of “Good Morning America,” which he joined in 2014.

And on Thursday’s edition of “GMA,” Strahan was joined by Olympic fencer Miles Chamley-Watson to announce the brand-new World Fencing League, the sport's first professional league. Founded by Chamley-Watson, the World Fencing League will make its debut in Los Angeles in April 2026 and will feature 12 different fencers from across the globe. The league also plans to expand to Europe, Asia, the Middle East and other parts of the USA.

Strahan introduced Chamley-Watson on “GMA,” noting that they had a “special announcement.”

"Thank you so much for having me," Chamley-Watson said. "It's an honor. So for the first time, I am announcing the World Fencing League, which is the first time you can be a professional in the sport of fencing. I wanted to kind of create a road map for kids and especially for parents that invest in their kids. So for the first time, there's an endgame and a roadmap to hopefully get to where I am and even more than that."

Chamley-Watson went on to share his experience with the sport, and on Thursday, “GMA” shared the announcement on Instagram in a joint post with Strahan.

"'I wanted to create a roadmap for kids.' Miles Chamley-Watson talks making history with the first World Fencing League," Good Morning America wrote.

While the World Fencing League is still months away, Strahan will continue his Fox analyst duties on Sunday at noon ET ahead of the Week 12 slate of NFL games.
