Caleb Williams turned doubters into believers with his strong performances in the 2025 season. He left a good impressed on many, including NFL legend Tom Brady, who recently gave a bold statement about him.
The star quarterback completed 330-of-568 passes for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He added 77 rushing attempts for 388 yards and three scores. Williams led the franchise to an NFC North crown with an 11-6 record and reached the Divisional Round.
Chicago is off to a strong start this year, winning its season opener last Sunday 59-37 over the Carolina Panthers. Williams once again shined by completing 21-of-29 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns. He also recorded 65 and two scores on the ground.
Brady spoke highly of Williams and the Bears following their Week 1 win. He believes the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner is an MVP candidate this year.
“The Caleb Williams MVP watch is underway,” Brady said. “Bears are number two. They put 59 on Carolina in week one. Ben Johnson wants the highest scoring offense ever, but we need to see a little defense from this team when they get back to Chicago. Or just, you know what? Screw it. Keep scoring 59 points. I’m an offensive guy. Either way works.”

The Bears face the league’s toughest schedule, and it gets tougher after the season-opening win. However, Williams and his teammates will attack it head-on and have their sights set on contending for a Super Bowl. While Chicago’s defense has some adjustments to make, Williams’ unit proved that it compensate for its shortcomings.
The team will be tested in the upcoming three-game homestand as it will take on the Philadelphia Eagles, a perennial Super Bowl contender, in Week 3. Chicago will then take on the New York Jets the following week.
