Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills couldn’t have asked for a better start to the 2025 NFL season, improving to 3-0 with a 31-21 win over Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 3. Building on his 2024 NFL MVP season, Allen has thrown for 755 yards and five touchdowns while adding 114 yards and two scores on the ground through three games.
Against the Dolphins, Allen had one of his better passing games of the year, completing 22-of-28 passes for 213 yards and three scores and was not sacked a single time, at least on the stat sheet. With 10:40 remaining in the third quarter, Allen had the Bills one yard from the endzone, but was sacked by Miami's Tyrel Dodson and Jordyn Brooks.
However, after the whistle blew, Brooks continued to push Allen backwards before bringing him down to the ground. The play was called back and the linebacker was hit with an unnecessary roughness penalty, leading to a James Cook touchdown run the very next play.
Typically, the NFL fines players as much as $11,593 for a first late-hit offense and up to $17,389 for a second. But Brooks avoided any sort of financial punishment, as the league chose not to fine the former Seattle Seahawks defender.

Through three weeks of the 2025 NFL season, only two players have been fined for a late hit, including Steelers tight end Connor Hayward ($6,327) and Titans linebacker James Williams ($5,457), both in Week 1.
Nobody on the Bills received a fine from the Week 3 matchup, but Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon was charged $5,045 for a "use of the helmet" on a defender, while guard Aaron Brewer was hit with a $17,389 penalty for a "blindside block."
Allen and the Bills will look to remain perfect in Week 4, hosting the New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon.
