Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants got back on track in Week 6’s edition of “Thursday Night Football,” defeating Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles 34-17 to improve to 2-4 on the 2025 NFL season. Coming off his first loss as an NFL starter, Dart delivered the best performance of his rookie year to take down the defending champs, throwing for 195 yards and a touchdown while adding 58 rushing yards and another score on the ground.
Dart suffered his first career loss in Week 5, falling to the New Orleans Saints 26-14. However, with 1:56 left in the fourth quarter, as Dart was attempting to lead an improbable 12-point comeback, he was sacked by Saints defensive end Carl Granderson for a 10-yard loss. But the officials deemed Granderson's hit worthy of a roughing the passer call, giving the Giants 15 yards.
Normally in the NFL, players are fined $17,389 for a first roughing the passer violation, increasing to $23,186 upon a second offense. However, the league elected not to fine Granderson for his hit on Dart, despite the flag being thrown.
No players have been fined for roughing the passer so far during the 2025 NFL season. However, three roughing the kicker fines have been issued, including Saints linebacker Nephi Sewell ($12,172), Chargers linebacker Marlowe Wax ($4,672) and Raiders safety Tristin McCollum ($5,722).
