NFL MVP Voter Dan Orlovsky Reveals Pick Between Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson
Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 NFL regular season has officially wrapped up, and voters are getting ready to submit their ballots for this year’s awards.

ESPN NFL analyst and awards voter Dan Orlovsky seems to have already made up his mind about who should take home the Most Valuable Player (MVP). Like all voters, he’ll need to finalize his pick before the playoffs begin this weekend.

On Monday, Orlovsky appeared on ESPN’s "First Take," naming Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen as his pick for MVP over Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

"In my opinion, the MVP should be Josh Allen," Orlovsky said. "To your point, I was just with Lamar [Jackson]. During the game, he does stuff, and you go, how are you not going to give this guy the MVP?"

Orlovsky then explained his reasoning for riding with Allen. His first point is that Buffalo's offense "averaged three points per drive," which is "top five historically."

"Point number one, and this is why, in my opinion, MVP would be Josh Allen," Orlovsky added. "The Buffalo Bills this year, with Josh Allen as their starting quarterback, averaged three points per drive. That's top five historically in the history of the NFL. Okay? You don't do that as an offense without a 1,000-yard receiver or 1,000-running back. The Bills have neither. So, to have a historically performing offense without a 1,000-yard back or 1,000-yard receiver tells me that the quarterback's performance is absolutely off the charts."

Orlovsky's next reason was the difference in talent on the roster after the Ravens earned nine Pro Bowl bids to the Bills' two.

"Number two, the Bills have two Pro Bowlers," Orlovsky said. "The Ravens have nine. The value of the quarterback to go and win the two-seed when you obviously have a lesser roster has to be part of that equation."

His third reason was that the Bills beat both No. 1 seeds this season.

"Number three, he beat both one seeds in each conference: Kansas City and Detroit."

His final reason was that Jackson had more turnovers and negative plays than Allen.

"Number four, when these graphs get put up, and these charts and we put these things, and it only says passing yards and touchdowns and interceptions, Lamar's had an amazing season. He's got more turnovers than Josh Allen. So that right there, that's misleading... Lamar has more turnovers than Josh. He has more negative plays than Josh."

"With a roster that doesn't have Derrick Henry, and it doesn't have Zay Flowers, that's why it's Josh Allen in my opinion."

The winner will be announced on Feb. 8, one day before the Super Bowl at the NFL Honors.
