NFL On FOX Analyst Gets Fooled By ChatGPT

Charles Woodson didn't get fooled often out on the football field, but on the internet appears to be a different story...

On Sunday's Week 18 edition of "FOX NFL Kickoff," the Hall of Famer turned analyst recalled a moment ahead of the season where he asked ChatGPT what the Packers' division record was last year before going on-air and repeating an incorrect answer to the network's millions of viewers.

It definitely made for an embarrassing moment for the former Raiders-Packers great, but he says he learned from it going into 2026.

Charles Woodson admits to getting fooled by AI

Sitting down with partners Charissa Thompson, Julian Edelman and Michael Strahan towards the end of Sunday's show, Woodson was asked his biggest takeaway as we turn the calendars to the new year.

“This is the age of AI, and we use it for everything,” the 1997 Heisman Trophy winner began. “What I learned this year is that the first week of the season, I went on ChatGPT and I just asked a question. I said ‘How many games in the division did the Packers win last year?’ And ChatGPT said they were 0-6 in the division."

"So, I thought it was an easy enough question. I come up here, I said it with my chest, I’m talking about the Packers. I’m like, ‘Man, they didn’t win a game in the division last year,’" Woodson continued. "As soon as I got on my [X account], somebody quickly corrected me. They said, ‘Hey man, you know the Packers won one division game last year. They beat Chicago.’ I said, ‘Ahhhh, man.’ So, make sure, man, if you’re using AI, that you fact-check.”

Julian Edelman makes Super Bowl prediction

Elsewhere in FOX's pregame show former Patriots receiver Julian Edelman went against his old team when asked about his AFC Super Bowl prediction.

“I think these Jaguars, for some reason, look hot to me,” Edelman said. “They stop the run, they’re [No. 1] at that. They take the ball away from teams, they’re [No. 2] at that. And they can run the football. And Trevor Lawrence looks as confident as we’ve ever seen him. This guy is using his arm...”

“Right now, the Pats are playing on house money. We didn’t think they were going to get this far," Edelman added. “I think they’re like a draft away potentially, but anything can happen when you have a great quarterback like Drake Maye, who can make his name in the postseason. But right now, I’m going with the Jags.”

We'll see if Edelman's pick holds correct, and we'll also see if Charles Woodson heeds his own advice when it comes to blind faith in even the simplest of questions posed to AI.
