NFL Player Misses Practice After Plane Crashed Near Home

The Buffalo Bills didn't have one of their top players at practice this Thursday due to an extremely scary incident that unfolded in Aurora, New York.

Dion Dawkins, a three-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle, missed practice because a small plane crashed in his yard. According to authorities, this single-engine plane went down around 11:22 a.m. ET. The aircraft apparently went down due to mechanical issues. Unsurprisingly, the plane was engulfed in flames shortly after crashing into the ground. One death has been reported at this time.

It's being reported that this plane was flying from New York to Michigan. Additional details regarding this crash are not available at this time. That's bound to change since the National Transportation Safety Board launched an investigation into this matter.

The Bills excused Dawkins from practice since this plane accident occurred just a few feet away from his property.

Dawkins, 30, has been a member of the Bills since 2017. The veteran has played in every single game this season. He's been durable for pretty much his entire NFL career, appearing in 126 games.

Earlier this week, Dawkins went viral for telling reporters that Josh Allen's engagement has turned the elite quarterback into an unstoppable force.

"Josh is having fun [and] we're having fun watching him," Dawkins told reporters. "I don't want to keep bringing energy to it, but I'm telling you, when you have a strong female behind you, and when you're in the right mental space… there's something about it."

Dawkins will most likely face non-football-related questions from the media once he returns to Buffalo's facility. He might keep his thoughts to himself until the National Transportation Safety Board wraps up its investigation.

Our thoughts are with those affected by this Thursday's plane crash in New York.
