For weeks, the Green Bay Packers have been linked to disgruntled Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons. However, many analysts did not think Jerry Jones would actually trade the All-Pro player. On Thursday afternoon, the impossible happened. After reports surfaced that Dallas was finally willing to listen to offers, Green Bay pounced. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport broke the news that Parsons has been traded to Green Bay.

Green Bay Packers Land Micah Parsons

In his post on X, the NFL insider said that the Green Bay Packers are giving up two first round picks. They are also sending veteran defensive lineman Kenny Clark, who has been a staple in Green Bay for years. Despite a down year, Clark has been one of the most consistent players in Green Bay for years. While this stings, fans will likely be very excited. Parsons is heading to Green Bay and is also getting a huge contract. It is a four year, $188 million deal with $136 million guaranteed. The annual salary of $47 million is the highest for a non-quarterback.

The pass rush has been a topic of conversation for the Green Bay Packers this offseason. Many analysts have challenged players like Rashan Gary and Lukas Van Ness to step up. Their jobs just got a lot easier. Parsons will now be the center of attention for any opposing offense. Through four seasons in the NFL, the former Penn State star has racked up 52.5 sacks and 112 QB hits. Additionally, he has been named to three All-Pro teams only missing out last year because of injury. This is a massive get for a team looking to compete for a Super Bowl right now.

The Pressure Is On

The Green Bay Packers now have stars all over their roster. All-Pro safety Xavier McKinney will anchor the backend of the defense while Parsons terrorizes opposing quarterbacks. He is dealing with a small back issue but reports indicate he is trending in the right direction. Does this move make the Packers the favorite in the NFC North?
