NFL 'SNF' Week 1: Two touchdown bets for Cowboys vs. Giants

Welcome, friends, to the 2023 NFL season. Yardbarker will have you covered all year long with betting previews and prop bets for every primetime "island" game, courtesy of myself and Griffin Carroll.

I get to start this week with the "Sunday Night Football" matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants, so let's first look at some anytime touchdown scorer bets for the first "SNF" game of the season.

Here are my two favorite TD bets for Cowboys-Giants Week 1, which I'll be playing for a half-unit each.

Darren Waller (+200 DraftKings)

Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been searching for a true No. 1 wide receiver since he entered the league in 2019, and he may have found one in Darren Waller, if he can stay healthy.

Waller was the star of training camp for the Giants, immediately acclimating himself as Jones' favorite target. And why wouldn't he be? Waller is a 6-foot-6, 255-pound alien of an athlete with a huge wingspan and great speed for his size. Jones will be looking for him early and often against the Cowboys.

Before his injury-riddled 2022 season, Waller racked up 3,006 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns over his previous three seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Giants are hoping to resurrect that dominant version of Waller, and I think it starts in Week 1.

Waller was limited in Friday's practice and was listed as questionable with a hamstring issue, but multiple reports Sunday indicate that he will play against the Cowboys Sunday night.

Jake Ferguson (+350 DK)

The Cowboys lost 577 yards and five receiving touchdowns from last season when Dalton Schultz left the team to join the Houston Texans. Replacing Schultz this year will be second-year TE Jake Ferguson, and he's a prime candidate to be the breakout star of this offense. Ferguson finished his rookie season with a pedestrian 19 catches, 174 yards, and two touchdowns, but those numbers have a chance to triple in 2023.

Dak Prescott loves targeting his tight ends in the red zone. Schultz led the team last year in red-zone targets with 16, and Ferguson could easily replicate that with red-zone bruiser Ezekiel Elliott out of town. New addition Brandin Cooks isn't much of a threat near the end zone, either, so I expect this red-zone passing offense to run through Ferguson and CeeDee Lamb.

This is a great price on a guy who should play a ton of snaps this Sunday night.
