NFL Star Myles Garrett Could Suffer $1 Million Loss This Offseason

Despite breaking the single-season sack record for the Cleveland Browns last season, Myles Garrett isn't rushing to return to the team as they begin their offseason program. That puts a lot of money in his contract at risk.

According to ProFootballTalk, Garrett's contract includes a $1 million workout bonus that requires him to take part in 84.375-percent of offseason workout sessions, along with all minicamps, OTAs and a "timely" reporting to summer training camp. Should he fail to comply, he will miss out on that money entirely.

That being said, Garrett probably isn't sweating it too much. He's already earned over $120 million over his nine years with the Cleveland Browns and is primed to more than double that number over the next five years. That $1 million bonus is barely half a game check for Garrett.

No Big Deal

NFL fans were pretty dismissive of the impact that Garrett's absence would have too. Just about everyone called it "pocket money" compared to how much money he has and earns.

"Pocket Money please leave that man alone! Does he show up and out work everybody on the field every Sunday? Is he the best player in the NFL? Let him be he is a NFL VET. And it’s not Mandatory!" one user wrote on X.

"Who cares? You always harp on missing workout bonuses for players that have generational wealth. Lamar nor Myles is hurting financially by missing a workout," wrote another.

"Myles is great, don't get me wrong, but to have so much money as to fluff off $1 million is....something," a third remarked.

Garrett is the best defender in the NFL right now and should still have plenty of good years left in his career. But the Cleveland Browns don't seem that much closer to being a contender heading into 2026 than they were when the team first drafted him.

It has long been believed that Garrett wants to get traded to a team where he has a better chance of winning a Super Bowl. If Garrett is going to have to stay in Cleveland though, he's going to do it on his own terms.
