After spending over a decade dominating opposing offensive lines, All-Pro defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh has decided to walk away from the NFL.
Suh, a former Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year at Nebraska, was selected by the Detroit Lions with the No. 2 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. He left the Motor City in 2015 to sign a six-year, $114 million contract with the Miami Dolphins.
After a brief stint with the Los Angeles Rams in 2018, Suh joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played a pivotal role in their Super Bowl run during the 2020 season. Just two years later, he reached the big game yet again but as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. However, he ended up on the losing end of the Super Bowl.
Even though Suh hasn't played in the NFL since the 2022 regular season, he never formally announced his retirement. That all changed on July 12.
Suh let his fans know that he's officially retired. Although it might be tough for some people to say goodbye, he's ready for the next chapter of his life.
"Football was my passion, but it was never my endgame," Suh wrote. "My next season is about impact, purpose, and legacy. About helping others build wealth, lead with intention, and create lasting freedom.
"I’ve lived. I’ve learned. I’ve built. I’ve failed. I’ve succeeded. And now I want to share what I’ve learned; especially with athletes, entrepreneurs, and young people navigating life and money."
Suh, 38, will finish his NFL career with 600 tackles, 214 QB hits, 71.5 sacks, 38 pass break-ups and five forced fumbles.
Congratulations to Suh on an incredible run on the gridiron.
