NFL Team 'Keeping Eye' On Marvin Harrison Jr. Trade

By his own statements, embattled Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. isn’t paying much attention to trade talk as the NFL trade deadline approaches. But one would-be suitor for his services is.

According to ESPN, the Indianapolis Colts are one of several teams “doing their due diligence” on Harrison as he continues to struggle in his third NFL season. Per the report, the team “would entertain the idea” of acquiring Harrison – who is the son of Colts legend Marvin Harrison Sr. That said, the Cardinals are reportedly not actively shopping the No. 4 overall pick from the 2024 NFL Draft.

“Sources told ESPN that the Cardinals are not shopping Harrison but other teams are still doing their due diligence on the third-year receiver. Those include the Colts, with a source telling ESPN that they would entertain the idea of trading for Harrison, the son of Marvin Harrison Sr., the Hall of Famer who owns multiple Indianapolis receiving records,” Josh Weinfuss and Stephen Holder wrote on Thursday.

A Match Made in Heaven?

Harrison seems to need a change of scenery. Through four games he has just five receptions for 85 yards and one touchdown – hardly the kind of production expected from a top-five pick even with below-average QB play. He’s in his third season with the team and has 108 receptions for 1,578 yards and 13 touchdowns in 33 games.

Meanwhile, the Colts seem like they could use a shot in the arm at wide receiver. They placed leading receiver Alec Pierce on IR last month and while they’re hopeful he’ll return later this season, they’re going to the scrapheap to find replacements right now.

But there are some problems, the foremost being the Cardinals’ lack of interest in moving him. And even if they were interested, they would probably want a level of compensation that the Colts either can’t or won’t give up for him.

The Colts are already without a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft due to last year’s big trade for Sauce Gardner. If they give up a Day Two pick to bring Harrison into the fold, they’ll have no more than one top-100 pick in next year’s draft.

Will Harrison move on from Arizona? Will the Colts be the team to get him out?
