NFL Week 16: Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants betting picks, preview

For Christmas Day this year, Santa Roger Goodell is stuffing our stockings with a three-pack of NFL games on the big day. Let's break down the afternoon matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants and target some winning bets for the NFC East battle.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants betting odds, preview

Spread: Eagles -13.5, Over/under: 43, Moneyline: Eagles -800 | Giants +540

The Eagles were in firm control of the No. 1 seed in the NFC just a few weeks ago, but they've lost three straight games to fall back to a wild-card spot. Philadelphia has struggled on both sides of the ball during this losing streak, but its offensive issues are starting to raise concerns with the playoffs right around the corner.

Over the last two games, the Eagles have scored only two touchdowns. Jalen Hurts has just 340 passing yards and two interceptions in that span. The offense is starting to look clunky at the wrong time, and the Eagles curiously haven't been able to create explosive plays in the passing game.

That could change this week against a Giants defense that ranks 26th in the NFL in yards per play allowed. New York has looked much better on defense of late, but it doesn't have the talent to slow down Philly's stable of horses.

On the other side of the ball, Tommy DeVito came back to earth last week in a 24-6 loss to the New Orleans Saints. New Orleans proved defenses can shut down this limited offense if they commit to stopping Saquon Barkley.

Eagles vs. Giants betting picks

Eagles -13.5 (-110 DraftKings)

These two teams aren't on the same level. The Eagles have outscored the Giants, 142-55, over the last four meetings, which included a 38-7 drubbing in the divisional round of last year's playoffs. Hurts should be able to torch this Giants defense down the field, and Philly's defense will be able to pressure DeVito all game.

Take out Barkley and the Eagles should cruise to another sweat-free win against their division rival.

Over 43 (-110 DK)

This is a perfect get-right spot for Philadelphia's offense. The Eagles want to get Hurts back in a groove before the playoffs, so they're going to draw up some deep shots and let A.J. Brown out-muscle New York's undersized secondary.

The only worry here is the Giants offense, but the Eagles have given up at least 20 points in six of their last seven games.
