The NFL is finally back, baby, and we can't wait to get started with our favorite bets for every primetime matchup of the year. We begin Sunday night with a divisional showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants on "Sunday Night Football," and there are more than a few prop bets I'm eyeing up for the game.
Luckily, I've narrowed the options down to my favorite two prop bets, both of which I'll be playing for one unit each.
The Giants brought Darren Waller in this offseason to take over as Daniel Jones' No. 1 wide receiver, and he was all of that and more throughout training camp.
Every day a different New York beat reporter would write about how dominant Waller was in practice. Jones targeted the tight end over and over again in drills, and the hope is for a similar story on "Sunday Night Football."
Waller averaged 8.5 targets and 5.8 catches per game in his three years with the Las Vegas Raiders before last season's injury-shortened campaign. He looks to be back to that level, and he should command a massive target share on a team with minimal weapons on the outside. If the Giants employ a pass-first approach to start the game, Waller could hit this prop by halftime.
Waller was limited in Friday's practice and was listed as questionable with a hamstring issue, but multiple reports Sunday indicate that he will play against the Cowboys Sunday night.
Brandin Cooks might just be the most underappreciated wide receiver in the NFL. All he's done in his nine-year career is put up six 1,000-yard receiving seasons, and one of those came with Davis Mills and Tyrod Taylor throwing him the ball.
Cooks went over 44.5 receiving yards eight times in 13 games last year, all while trying to force his way to another team. The veteran immediately takes over the No. 2 wide receiver job in Dallas, an offense that loves to air the ball out with Dak Prescott.
The way to attack this Giants defense is down the field, not up the middle straight at their best position group. Mike McCarthy knows this well, so Cooks could be in line for close to double-digit targets in his Cowboys debut.
