NFL Week 4: Las Vegas Raiders vs. Los Angeles Chargers betting picks, preview

The Chargers saved their season last week with a win over Minnesota. At the same time, the Raiders' season might have gone off the rails. losing and losing their quarterback in the process. Jimmy G had not been playing well anyway so maybe it is a blessing in disguise but they do not have much to work with behind him.

Odds: Los Angeles -5.5, Over/under 48.5, Las Vegas +200 | Los Angeles -250

This is an interesting line, I thought the Chargers would have been favored by more but a dead number like -5.5 might as well be -6.5 or even -7 really. I guess the market is not giving them much credit for barely beating a bad Minnesota team. I actually feel like this number is being kind to the Raiders even though they have quarterback issues.

Picks for Las Vegas vs. Los Angeles

Los Angeles -5.5, Chargers Over 27.5 (+102)

I am not high on the Chargers on the whole, but this is a game they should win with ease at home. A little of the pressure is off after the win last week and they are at home, although that does not give them much of an advantage. Backing the best quarterback is never a bad strategy and there is no doubt who that is in this matchup — Justin Herbert. Even with a reduced complement of weapons with receiver Mike Williams out, the Chargers are going to move the ball and score enough points to put a lot of game pressure on the Raiders. Once that happens they can be opportunistic enough to build a nice working margin for a confident win. 

I love team totals, even more than sides some weeks. This one stands out because you can get that plus value without taking on too much risk. Los Angeles has scored 34, 24 and 28 points this season. This team knows it has to score to win. An anemic Vegas offense helps.  

With a dead number, this can really go either way and it is not going to help us much. A great teaser spot if you are into that.
