NFL Week 6 panic meter: Eagles sounding the alarms

We're officially through Week 6 in the 2026 NFL season, and there are already some preseason Super Bowl contenders who just don't look right so far. Let's break a few down and rank them on the panic meter.

Philadelphia Eagles

Panic meter rating: 9.5/10

The Eagles have lost four straight games for the first time in the Nick Sirianni era, but that's not even the worst news coming out of Philadelphia. On Monday morning, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that QB Jalen Hurts will be out for the season after doctors discovered multiple blood clots in his lungs.

Over the last three games, Philadelphia has been outgained, 1,222-626. Philly's offense ranks 31st in the NFL in success rate (36.6 percent) and 28th in EPA per play (-0.111). That's not going to get any better with Tanner McKee running the show. The Eagles' playoff hopes are already on life support.

Denver Broncos offense

Panic meter rating: 6.5/10

The Broncos keep finding ways to win games, but the offense continues to look worse with each passing week. Denver recorded only 224 total yards in the Week 5 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers, and it followed that up with just 168 yards in an improbable win against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6. The Broncos have failed to reach 300 yards of offense in five of their first six games.

Through six games, the Broncos rank 31st in the NFL in yards per game (252.2), 26th in points per game (19.0) and 28th in success rate (38.0 percent). Bo Nix has been abysmal, ranking last in air yards per attempt (5.6) and 28th in success rate (39.6 percent) among quarterbacks.

It's too early in the season to press the panic button on a Sean Payton offense, but we'll need to see some improvement in the next few weeks.

Los Angeles Rams

Panic meter rating: 4.5/10

The Rams were in a prime get-right spot against the lowly Arizona Cardinals in Week 6, but they didn't take the game seriously and ended up losing on a last-second field goal. At 2-4, L.A. is in last place in the NFC West through six weeks.

We've seen missed field goals, muffed punts and poor coverage on kickoffs and punts from this unit all season. HC Sean McVay completely shunned special teams when he put together this All-Star team, and it's coming back to bite him.

We still trust in the talent on this roster, and Myles Garrett will return to the field soon to give this defense a major boost. Still, once the playoffs roll around, Rams fans must be terrified that their special teams will cost them a close game.
