Nick Sirianni took responsibility for the Philadelphia Eagles’ struggles after their fourth consecutive loss left them with a 2-4 record. The head coach acknowledged that his own coaching needs to improve after Philadelphia fell 25-14 to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Oct. 18.
“We have to do all the little things better. I have to coach the little things better. Details,” Sirianni said, according to John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia, who shared the comments on X.
The defeat extended Philadelphia’s losing streak to four games and increased the pressure on a team that entered the season with expectations of competing for another championship. The Eagles have struggled to find consistency during a difficult stretch, and their latest loss exposed more problems on both sides of the ball.

Philadelphia’s defeat against Carolina came with backup quarterback Tanner McKee making his first start of the season. Starting quarterback Jalen Hurts was placed on injured reserve because of a blood clot in his calf, leaving McKee to lead the offense against the Panthers.
McKee completed 26 of 45 passes for 215 yards and one touchdown. However, Philadelphia struggled to sustain drives, while Carolina quarterback Bryce Young threw two touchdown passes in the victory. Running back Chuba Hubbard also rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown as the Panthers controlled important stretches of the game.
The result leaves Philadelphia at 2-4, tied with the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East standings. The New York Giants lead the division at 3-2-1, while the Washington Commanders sit at 1-3-1. The Eagles therefore have ground to make up if they want to regain control of the division.
Hurts’ absence presents another challenge for Sirianni and the coaching staff. The quarterback must miss at least four games after being placed on injured reserve, meaning McKee is expected to continue starting while Hurts undergoes treatment. Philadelphia will need better execution from its offense and defense during that stretch.
Sirianni’s comments put the focus on accountability as the Eagles attempt to stop their slide. His admission that he needs to coach the details better offers a clear indication of where he believes improvement must begin, but the team still needs to translate that message into results.
Philadelphia’s next matchup is against the Cowboys in Week 7. With both teams sitting at 2-4, the divisional game offers the Eagles an opportunity to end their losing streak and improve their position in the NFC East.
