Nick Sirianni and the Philadelphia Eagles secured a second-consecutive NFC East title after finishing the 2025 NFL regular season with an 11-6 record, earning the No. 3 seed in the playoffs. However, the Eagles' Super Bowl defense was cut short in the wild-card round, falling to Brock Purdy and the No. 6 seed San Francisco 49ers 23-19.

The Eagles have turned to the offseason in hopes of getting back to the Super Bowl. While they may have lost some key players, including safety Reed Blankenship, Philadelphia has also added several impact pieces. This includes former Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowl cornerback Riq Woolen, along with veteran quarterback Andy Dalton as a backup for Jalen Hurts. But the Eagles have also made an addition to their wide receiver corps.

Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, after spending his college career at Oklahoma, was selected by the Baltimore Ravens with the No. 25 pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The wide receiver spent his first three NFL seasons in Baltimore alongside Lamar Jackson, eclipsing 1,000 receiving yards for the first and only time in 2021. Following his three seasons with the Ravens, Brown was traded to the Arizona Cardinals ahead of the 2022 season.

Brown spent two seasons with the Cardinals, where he did not replicate the success he had in Baltimore. After the 2023 season, he chose to join the Chiefs, spending the next two years in Kansas City, including an injury-plagued 2024 campaign. During his time with the Chiefs, Brown appeared in 18 games, recording 58 catches for 678 yards and five touchdowns. But following the 2025 season, Brown became a free agent, and Kansas City decided not to re-sign him, opting to join the Eagles on a one-year deal.

With Kansas City losing a key piece in Brown to free agency, the Chiefs are expected to earn a 2027 seventh-round compensatory pick in return. And with the Eagles signing the wideout to a $5 million deal, this counted as a "net gain" for Philadelphia, and they are set to lose a projected sixth-round compensatory pick in 2027.

"Signing Marquise Brown for $5M cancels out a 6th round 2027 compensatory pick from the Eagles, and adds a 7th rounder to the Chiefs," Over the Cap's Nick Korte wrote on X.

The Eagles will continue to look toward free agency in hopes of getting back to the Super Bowl, and they will also be selecting with the No. 23 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft next month.
