The Philadelphia Eagles are going to try their best to avoid the injury plague this summer before 2025 NFL training camp kicks off in mid-July.
In order to do that, head coach Nick Sirianni shared a clear message with his team so they can make it through the heart of the offseason without missing a beat.
"Being in great, great, great shape," he said of his overall message to his players. "We really pride ourselves on that, that you can’t play with great detail and you can’t play with great physicality, you can’t play with relentless effort if you’re not in great shape.
Sirianni made it known that the Eagles will be tested physically from the jump, with conditioning tests waiting on Day 1. Players are expected to not only hit target weights, but also be ready to run.
And if they don't report back to the NovaCare Complex in tip-top shape, that is what leads to injuries and their loss of focus on the necessary details.
"They’ll have conditioning tests when they get back, be in great shape, have your body, if your body’s supposed to weigh this, that’s what it needs to weigh and make sure you can run all day because again, the thing you notice the most when you’re not in good shape, one, injuries happen. The other thing that happens is your detail slips, and in every phase, the detail has to be on point, and you can’t do that unless you’re in great shape.
"So, that’s always my key message to them is they got to be working their butts off. There’s no substitute for working hard, and there’s no shortcut around it. You've got to be ready for the season and get your body ready for the training camp and then the season."
The Eagles will begin their 2025 training camp on Tuesday, July 22. A public practice at Lincoln Financial Field is scheduled for Sunday, August 10th.
