Every player has a role, and it appears that Jahan Dotson is thriving in his. While many have written him off as a first-round bust, Dotson appears quite comfortable heading into his second season in Philadelphia.
Many media pundits will be quick to point out the lack of targets for A.J. Brown, but few have pointed out Dotson's clutch 51-yard third-down reception in the Eagles' 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night. Dotson finished the night with three receptions for 59 yards; however, with Jalen Hurts needing a receiver to make a play, it was Dotson who answered the call.
In offense that has so many weapons, it shouldn't surprise anyone that a wide receiver may not have the "fantasy-type" numbers consistently. Sirianni has been on record with this in past specifically highlighting Dotson.
"You know, it's hard to force feed someone the football based off -- again, as a offensive coach you want to be always on the attack," Sirianni said after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss last year. "There is being on the attack and then also taking what the defense gives you. The ball went to him when it was supposed to go to him."
Sirianni's comments after the Cowboys game echoed the above sentiment. Coupled with his praise for Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, taking away and matching opportunities for Brown.
"There are going to be games like this, they're going to happen, but to be what we wanna be,...you know A.J. is obviously gonna have to be involved more in the offense, but some games go this way, and I get that will be a story and everything like that, but there are games that go this way".

Sirianni's logic is sound in the fact that one week Brown could have a seven-reception for 120-yard performance, the next week it could be DeVonta Smith. Against the Cowboys, Dallas Goedert's seven receptions on seven targets for 44 yards were a consistent safety blanket for Hurts.
Sirianni ensured that Dotson also received praise, as media members had been silent on his play on Thursday night.
"A huge third down catch, that equals points,... a 51-yard gain...another one on a scramble, like I mean, I get it you ask a lot of the negative but man there were some positives too, and Jahan (Dotson), that is such an ability to have the other guys that they are keying on (the defense), and Jahan comes in and makes the plays that he does. I know the story will be that A.J. only got one target until the fourth quarter, but how about Jahan Dotson?"
Intending to win a Super Bowl, selfless players leading to selfless play are often the key to the long-term success of premier organizations. Sirianni praised the attitude of the skill positions as they understand their role.
With players like Dotson stepping up, it appears that the 2025 Eagles offense will have a consistent helping of playmakers leaving their mark.
