No NY Jets named to Pro Bowl; 6 chosen as alternates

We are only two days away from the blissful end of the New York Jets’ 2024 season. However, Jets fans got another reminder of their disappointing season when the Pro Bowl rosters were announced on Thursday.

After having six Pro Bowlers over the last two years, the Jets had none in 2024. However, six players were named as alternates.

ST Irvin Charles (2nd Alternate)
WR Garrett Wilson (3rd Alternate)
DE Will McDonald IV (3rd Alternate)
KR/PR Xavier Gipson (5th Alternate)
CB Sauce Gardner (5th Alternate)

The Jets are one of four teams with no players named to the initial Pro Bowl roster, joining the Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints, and Tennessee Titans.

Despite only having players named as alternates, there is still a good chance the Jets are represented. In 2024, defensive end Jermaine Johnson made his Pro Bowl debut after being a fifth alternate. Quinnen Williams, as the Jets’ only first-team alternate in 2025, has the best chance of being elevated to the roster.

While it’s nice for the players to get some form of recognition, it does little to numb the feeling left by a nightmarish season. Until the collection of individual talent starts to play together and win games, these accolades mean little.

For that to happen, it all starts with making a quality hire at head coach, which the Jets are in the process of pursuing. It was reported that they will be interviewing Mike Vrabel at their team facility later today.
