Usually, when a club loses a star player like Micah Parsons, coaches and the front office hold meetings to figure out a suitable replacement and their approach for the upcoming season. Dak Prescott revealed that the Dallas Cowboys weren’t alarmed enough to organize a last-minute strategy meeting.

Cowboys resumed their practice sessions without raising much fuss about Parsons’ departure. The Cowboys got used to practicing without the 26-year-old due to his holdout.

As the trade talks intensified, Parsons limited his visits to the facility to focus on conditioning himself. The Cowboys eventually traded Micah to the Green Bay Packers.

Quarterback Dak Prescott had faith that Jerry Jones and Parsons would eventually meet in the middle to solve their differences. His hunch was proven incorrect.

I definitely didn’t think he was going to get traded. But just with the way their negotiations went down… it seemed like it got personal on their ends, so that’s why I wasn’t surprised.

Cowboys beat writer Nick Harris asked Prescott if the coaches held any special meetings to break the trade news. Prescott said they did not require any meetings.

I don’t know if there was a necessary meeting or if things needed to be said or handled or had. I mean, it was a very public issue that everybody could look on the internet or ask somebody or ask one of y’all and get a lot of intel or a feeling about it. Like I said, it’s just good to be past it. And as I said, both parties are happy.

Parsons signed a $47 million AAV extension with the Packers. The Cowboys received multiple high draft picks and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark in return.

Of course, Parsons’s absence is a big blow for the Cowboys, but Prescott believes that Clark is more than capable of improving the team.

Adding a guy like Kenny Clark, adding a true leader, a real man that’s going to only elevate this team, who’s been a Pro Bowl player and is excited about being here [means].

Prescott is looking forward to the future. With Parsons’ conundrum finally concluding, he wants to tackle the Philadelphia Eagles game with every inch of his being.

The week one fixture against the defending world champions will also be the first game of Brian Schottenheimers head coaching career.

The way that he’s approaching this thing—him and the whole coaching staff—the way that we’re going to attack these guys, a lot of excitement.

Prescott said about Schottenheimer

What are the odds that a Micah Parsons-less Cowboys team has of beating the Eagles?

Clark is a seasoned veteran with multiple Pro Bowls and sacks on his resume. However, Parsons played a key part in the Cowboys’ defense while he was there.

The Penn State graduate racked up 12+ sacks every year and was great at wrecking the opposition’s offense. His absence may prove to be a big loss.

According to CBS Sports, the Eagles are favored by 7.5 points to secure a win against their NFC East rivals. The Cowboys hold the overall win record of 71-57, but the Eagles did the double in 2024 with a margin of 75-13.
